OCR PDF

OCR a scanned PDF

A scan is only a picture of a page, so you can’t search it or copy from it. OCR reads the English text on each page and lays matching invisible text over it, and you also get the recognized words as a text file. The first run downloads about 5 MB of recognition data that is reused after that, and pages that already have text are left alone.

  1. Choose a scanned PDF, and pages if it is long.
  2. Select Recognize text; each page takes a few seconds.
  3. Download the searchable PDF and the text file.
