Edit PDF

Update text and images.

Changes or adds text on a page and replaces pictures, without leaving your browser.

How to use it

  1. Choose a PDF and select Edit PDF. The first page appears.
  2. In Edit text, select the text to change, type the new text and press Enter. Leave it empty to cover the text.
  3. In Add text, choose a size, colour and font, select a place on the page and type.
  4. In Replace image, select a picture and choose a PNG or JPEG to put in its place. It keeps its proportions unless you choose fills the box.
  5. Select Save changes and download the result.

Output

A new PDF with your changes. Changed text is drawn over the page: a box in the page’s background colour covers the old text, and the new text is written on top in a matching standard font, size and colour.

The old text is still in the file

Covering text hides it on the page, but the original words stay in the file: anyone can copy them, find them with search, or hear them with a screen reader. If the old text must not be recoverable, open the edited file in Redact PDF and draw over the same area (that page becomes an image). A replaced picture is removed from that page. Pictures inside grouped content are covered instead, and the original stays underneath.

Limits

No file size or page limit. Everything runs on your device, so very large files are fastest on a computer. Each piece of text is edited on its own; paragraphs don’t reflow. The new text uses Helvetica, Times or Courier, so it can look slightly different from the original font, and it can only use Latin letters, numbers and common symbols. Longer text is shrunk to fit the original width unless you turn that off.
